About
Hi online person, I’m David — Dutch, man, guy, dude, bloke, geeser, whatever.
I basically write books full of “what” or “who” I am. So just read ’em. There is Phantom Parents, about growing up as an adoptee, there is Unexpected Gifts (stories of change), an anthology, where I shine the last light on a list of life-changing events; Parkinson’s Disease, that uninvited fellow passenger that makes me walk like on treacle, underwater, at times. But I’ll live. And that’s what I focus on in my current w.i.p. Tonic for the Bones. A celebration of shadows on buildings, the last autumnal sun, a cat rubbing its furry face on my ankle on the street, and that thing people refer to as “Love”. And another w.i.p. is Strangely Familiar (the Chosen, the Given and the Found), where I dive in history, fatherhood, faith and a whole lot more. Ayway, hope to see you one day!

What others say about me

In the very modesty and honesty of his drawing and writing Enker brings a real conviction to get across this extraordinary, life-changing, life-renewing event, to us and to himself.
(from Paul’s 2008 review of In Transition, my 7/7 London bombings experience book)

David is a great artist/designer. He has some awesome illustration-skills. He made illustrations and animations for a game at IJsfontein which I had to program. He’s got a very kind spirit and is quick and responsive. I highly recommend him.

David worked to tight (possibly crazy) deadlines and deliver what we needed perfectly to brief. Would use him again, definitely.

We got to know David as a sympathetic, empathetic colleague when he worked with us on websites, newsletters, DTP work and on beautiful visuals and illustrations.
